3月20日，机械工程系团总支书记杨海亮老师的带领同学们来到了位于西苑的慈爱之家敬老院展开慰问活动。大家分组前往不同的房间慰问代养老人。起初在有些老人面前大家还显得很拘谨，但活跃性格开朗外向的同学用自己的热情带动了大家。

同学们耐着心和老人们聊天，帮老人整理衣物，擦拭家具，听老人讲自己的过去，也与老人分享自己的校园生活。在和老人们拉家常的过程中，同学们感受到了老人的辛劳，感受了老人对儿女的记盼，更体会到了父母对自己的爱护和期望。同学们还为老人表演了歌曲、小品等节目，让这些在孤独中生活着的老人又一次露出了开心的笑容。
